Why one hub works
One stock position instead of stock in every country
The instinct when selling into several European countries is to put stock close to each market. In practice that fragments your inventory: the same SKU sits in five places, each buffer is sized for uncertainty, and the country where demand spikes is rarely the one holding the units.
A single German position avoids that. Every unit is available to every market, replenishment is one inbound flow rather than five, and you are not moving stock between countries to correct imbalances you created by splitting it in the first place.
The trade-off is transit time to the periphery — Spain, southern Italy and northern Sweden take longer from Germany than from a local warehouse. For most B2B and considered-purchase products that difference is acceptable. If your business depends on next-day delivery in Madrid specifically, a single German hub is the wrong architecture and we will tell you so.

Customs and VAT
One import, then intra-EU movement
Goods produced outside the EU are imported once, into Germany. After that import is completed and the goods are in free circulation, movements to other EU member states are intra-community supplies rather than exports and imports.
This changes the customer experience most visibly: no per-order customs charge arriving at the door, no per-order clearance delay, and returns that do not require a re-import.
Your own VAT position depends on how and to whom you sell, and can require registration in one or more member states. That is a question for your tax adviser, and we will not pretend to answer it for you. What we can do is describe accurately what happens to the goods physically, which is what your adviser will need.
